Because the paint and patterns are on the back of the glass, it's well protected and you don't have to worry about kitchen grease or nasties getting stuck in the cracks or grouting.

To create depth, we recommend coating our textured slumped glass. There are so many textures and patterns. You can view them HERE. You can pick from the Resene and Dulux colour range, but note that metallic is added to the paint to give the pattern some depth. When looking at pricing, please enquire about glass types used for whites and neutrals.

More about slumped glass splashbacks

slumped glass can be used to create visually striking and functional glass panels that protect the wall behind a kitchen countertop or stove from splatters and spills.

Slumped glass splashbacks offer a unique and artistic alternative to traditional materials like tiles or stainless steel. The process involves shaping a flat glass sheet into a curved or textured form that adds depth and visual interest to the space.

Slumped Glass mountain splashback

To create a slumped glass splashback, a flat glass panel is chosen, often with specific dimensions to fit the area. The glass can be clear, colored, or even incorporate patterns or textures. The panel is carefully placed on top of a mold that has the desired shape or design elements. The mold can be customized to match the desired aesthetic, such as waves, ripples, or other organic patterns.

The glass panel with the mold is then heated in a kiln or specialized slumping furnace. As the glass reaches its slumping temperature, it softens and begins to flow and sag, conforming to the shape of the mold. This process gives the glass panel a unique curved or textured appearance.

Once the glass has slumped and acquired the desired shape, it is slowly cooled down to ensure its structural integrity. The cooling process is critical to prevent stress and potential cracking. The glass is then removed from the mold, and the slumped glass splashback is ready for installation.

Slumped glass splashbacks offer several advantages. Firstly, they are highly customizable, allowing homeowners to choose from a variety of shapes, textures, and colors to match their kitchen decor and personal style. Secondly, they are relatively easy to clean, as the smooth, curved surface minimizes grout lines or crevices where dirt and grime can accumulate. Additionally, slumped glass splashbacks are heat resistant, making them suitable for use behind stovetops or cooktops.

In terms of aesthetics, slumped glass splashbacks can add a touch of elegance and uniqueness to the kitchen space. The curved or textured surface creates visual interest and can serve as a focal point, enhancing the overall design. The play of light on the undulating glass surface can also create beautiful reflections and shadows, adding depth and dimension to the kitchen environment.

Overall, slumped glass splashbacks combine functionality with artistic appeal, providing a stylish and practical solution for protecting kitchen walls while elevating the visual aesthetics of the space.
