Honouring the memory of a loved one is an important way to preserve their legacy. At Escape Glass, we create beautiful, personalised glass headstones that reflect the unique spirit of the person or pet they represent. Crafted with care and attention to detail, our headstones combine artistic design with lasting durability, creating a meaningful tribute.
Our glass headstones are versatile and can be displayed in various settings, including memorial walls, crematoriums, berms, lawns, recumbent desks, and upright memorials. Made from premium 48mm glass, they provide an elegant and enduring option for honouring your loved one, they are also just as tough as granite!
Please also note that not all cemeteries in New Zealand allow glass. Permission may and usually is always required in advance. All Urupa sites allow glass headstones.
When enquiring with your local council please ask for permission to install Escape Slumped Glass Headstones (not just standard glass as you will be told no) Our glass is a minimum of 48mm thick and meets all the same NZ standards required for granite.

We have a large variety of headstone shapes such as curved tops, crosses, hearts butterflies and more. Custom shapes are available - please send us your ideas and we will see if they are possible in glass.

What sizes are available?
We offer two standard sizes. Custom sizing is available on request up to 1m x 700mm. Anything shaped is measured by the widest points.

Fonts and Customisation Options
The personalisation doesn't stop with just the design. We offer a wide variety of fonts for inscriptions, allowing you to find the perfect match for your headstone. It’s worth noting that simpler fonts tend to be better for long-lasting memorials, as they are more legible over time and do not date as quickly as more ornate options. All wording on headstones is priced per letter, so you can customise your plaque according to your needs and budget.
Lettering colour options are Gold, Silver and Black.
We also offer paua inlay and golf leaf as part of the design please speak to our staff to include this.
Decorate with Artwork and Personalised Inscriptions
A personalised headstone allows you to express the essence of the person or pet you are commemorating. From special passages to meaningful artwork or photos, our skilled team can engrave or slump custom designs and lettering to make the headstone truly special.
We offer a range of artwork and thoughtful inscriptions that compliment any memorial, or we can work with you to bring your own ideas to life. Whether you have a specific image or text in mind, we can tailor it to your exact wishes.

Etching and Slumped Imagery for a Unique Touch
For a distinctive and elegant finish, we provide etching services starting from +$100 per image. Colouring these is extra and priced per design. Our team can etch intricate designs into the glass, creating a refined, polished look. For a more dimensional appearance, we offer slumped imagery into the back of the glass starting from +$150 per image. Our in-house design team can create custom drawings to ensure your headstone is unique and meaningful.
Photo Ceramics to Preserve Memories
We also offer photo ceramics, which are available in various sizes and shapes, starting from +$195 including GST. These ceramics preserve your chosen photograph for years to come, adding a personal touch to the glass headstone that endures through time.
Bases and Vases
Our glass headstones should always be slotted into a concrete or granite base.
Bases are available in a variety of granite finishes and colours, as well as concrete. Black granite is the most popular choice, known for its timeless elegance and strength. Prices for granite bases start from +$1,200 including GST.
For added personalisation, bases can also include inscriptions or engraved images. Please discuss these options with our design team to ensure the base compliments your headstone and meets your specific needs.
Vases/Vase holes are available on all headstone bases. Maximum 2. These are priced separately. These include the metal vase top.
Secure Freight Across New Zealand
All our headstones are carefully packaged using a custom-made crate that is designed to suit the specific size and shape of each headstone. Bases are sent separately to the glass, so if you order both, you will receive two crates. This method ensures maximum protection during transit.
We use a crate and freight method to deliver headstones across New Zealand, with freight starting from +$395 including GST nationwide per crate. This ensures your memorial arrives safely, no matter where in the country you are located.
